It was just the second time all season that St. Joe's been shutout, with the first coming one day before in a 3-0 loss to Kansas City.
The Mustangs (19-8, 12-7 MINK) strung together just five hits all game -- each one a single. They advanced a runner to third base in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but never managed to push a run across.
Seven of Joplin's eight hits off Trent Kinney, St. Joe's starting pitcher, came between the third in fourth innings as the Outlaws tagged him for two runs in each frame.
Kinney was pulled after giving up four earned runs in three and two-thirds innings. Dixon Marble threw the final four and one-third innings keeping Joplin at bay.
The Mustangs return to Phil Welch Stadium Friday evening for a non-league game against North Kansas City.
