Pitt State's Brown 1st MIAA Player Drafted in '14

Pittsburg State All-American wide receiver John Brown was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the NFL Draft.
(NEW YORK, NY) For the first time in 21 years, a Pittsburg State Gorilla's name was called in the NFL Draft.

Wide receiver John Brown was selected in the third round by the Arizona Cardinals. He's the first Division II player taken in 2014.

Only three players in MIAA history have been drafted earlier than Brown, who went 91st overall. Northwest's Seth Wand was the 75th pick overall by the Houston Texans in 2003, Pitt's Daryl Wren went 82nd to the Buffalo Bills in 1990 and Ronald Moore -- another Gorilla -- went 87th overall to the Cardinals in 1993.

Brown was a consensus NCAA Division II All-American as a senior catching 61 passes for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He also had five receptions for 99 yards in Pitt's national championship victory over Wayne State in 2011.

Other notable MIAA players hoping to be drafted include Lindenwood cornerback Pierre Desir, Missouri Western tight end Reggie Jordan, Missouri Western quarterback Travis Partridge and Northwest cornerbacks Brandon and Brian Dixon.
