Video Board Installation Begins at Northwest

The new scoreboard with HD video screen embedded will be installed in time for the Bearcats fall football camp beginning August 14.
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Off-season work around Bearcat Stadium is going deeper than just yearly maintenance around the venue.

Upgrades began with renovations to the track. Work on the next piece of the puzzle got underway Wednesday.

Northwest's new video board at the stadium is finally going up.

The board was originally scheduled to be complete in time for the 2013 season, but the new plans were not completed early enough.

Timing won't be an issue in 2014.

"I think it's awesome that we're opening at home to unveil it, and it's going to be a beautiful night," Northwest head football coach Adam Dorrel said.

Nodaway Valley Bank in Maryville is the major backer for the project.

The project will be complete by the time fall football camp opens August 14, and Dorrel says it will be impressive -- an upgrade that can play a role when recruits come to campus.

"To my knowledge it's going to be the largest high definition scoreboard in Division II football. It's my understanding that board's got tons of capabilities, and certainly we'll use it to its fullest to help in recruiting as much as we can."

The new board will go up in the south end zone, opposite of the current one.

The Bearcats open the season September 4 at home against Nebraska-Kearney.
