Ryu Bests Wainright as Dodgers Take Game 3

Los Angeles knocks off the Cardinals 3-0 to make St. Louis' lead 2-1 in the NLCS.
(LOS ANGELES) After conquering Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke, the Cardinals had to feel good about throwing Adam Wainright for Game 3 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium.

Instead, it was Hyun-Jin Ryu with a spotless start as the Dodgers cut St. Louis' series lead to 2-1 with a 3-0 victory on Monday.

Ryu struck out four batters and gave up just three hits and a walk over seven innings.

Adrian Gonzalez took a Wainright pitch up the first base line to score Mark Ellis for the opening run in the fourth inning. Yasiel Puig followed that by legging out a triple that scored Gonzalez.

Hanley Ramirez, who was questionable before first pitch with a rib injury, scored the final run as he plated Crawford with a bloop single in the eighth.

Wainright lasted seven frames, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five batters.

Lance Lynn will square off against Ricky Nolasco in Game 4 on Tuesday.
