Griffon Football Denied Bowl Bid

Missouri Western is not invited to either the Mineral Water Bowl or Live United Bowl.
(ST. JOSEPH) Missouri Western football has been denied their ninth-straight postseason berth as Griffon Athletics officials confirmed Monday the team did not receive an invite to the Mineral Water Bowl in Excelsior Springs, Mo. or Live United Bowl in Texarkana, Ark.

The Griffons (8-3, 7-3) were eliminated from a possible fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs with their 51-21 loss to Northwest on Saturday. They made five playoff appearances and four trips to the Mineral Water Bowl during their streak.

This ends Jerry Partridge 17th season as head coach and also the careers of 16 seniors, who finished one win shy of tying the mark for winningest class in program history.

Fellow MIAA school Pittsburg State, who defeated MWSU in St. Joseph earlier this season, were bumped from the playoffs with a loss to Missouri Southern on Saturday, earning them the MIAA's ticket to Excelsior Springs.
