Midwestern State Knocks Off Missouri Western in Classic

The Griffons fall in the final game of the Hillyard Tipoff Classic.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Midwestern State finished the Hillyard Tipoff Classic with its second win in two days. The 13th ranked team in the nation knocked off Missouri Western (3-2) 82-64 in the final game of the two-day event.

The Griffons began the classic with a win over William Jewell College Friday, but couldn't shut down the Mustangs sharp shooting. Midwestern (4-0) shot 50-percent from the field and 45-percent beyond the three-point line in the game.

Cortrez Colbert and Cedric Clinkscales led Missouri Western shooting 7-10 from the field and finishing with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Adarius Fulton was the only other Griff in double-figures with 10 points.

Midwestern State dominated in the paint outscoring Missouri Western 38-16.

The Griffons will be off until next Saturday, November 23rd when they play at Illinois Springfield. Missouri Western has three non-conference games left before MIAA play begins.
