(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Director of the Air National Guard made his way to Rosecrans Thursday afternoon for a special visit.

Lt. Gen. Stanley E. Clarke visited the 139th Airlift Wing of the Missouri Air National Guard.

It's been more than two decades since a director of the guard has visited the wing.

Gen. Clarke said this visit was a great opportunity to get out of the pentagon and see the work from the unit's airmen.

"I always look for is there a spread of core. Does the unit have a little pep in their step. Do they also focus for the future. Are they interested in how their Airmen are developing. That type of thing," said Gen. Clarke.

Gen. Clarke visited during the annual tactics symposium.
Among the 215 participants, were representatives all the way from Denmark, New Zealand and the Netherlands.
