According to the National Confectioners Association, Americans are expected to spend $2.26 billion on Easter candy - that's up four percent from 2013.
Hy-Vee's candy section, in St. Joseph, was nearly wiped clean this year.
Employees restocked shelves almost every day, but that meant big numbers for their sales department.
"Our shelves right now are almost empty. I mean, we sold through just about everything we had. I mean, we marked them down a little bit, give the customers a better deal, and they greatly appreciated that and our sales have just been awesome," said Rhylan Daily, Assistant Manger at Hy-Vee.
About 83 percent of parents planned to include candy or chocolate in their Easter baskets.
