According to a report released by State Auditor Tom Schweich, the court is not disbursing garnishments on time and it has not developed adequate procedures to follow up on outstanding checks.
The audit shows the court was holding approximately $290,000 in garnishment monies due to garnishors as of July 31, 2013.
The report also revealed that 117 checks, totaling $23,180, had been outstanding for more than year.
The audit also shows the court spent $32,000 in 2012 for law library publications, subscriptions, equipment and other material but it did not maintain an inventory list for the materials.
The state auditor rated the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court's overall performance as fair.
