(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Bacon lovers, rejoice! The first ever BaconFest is coming to the St. Joseph Civic Arena September 27, 2014.

Eagle Communications partnered with local radio stations for the event.

Apple Market plans to provide 2,000 pounds of bacon for different vendors to create any bacon masterpieces of their choice.

Tickets are expected to go on sale in July.

Part of the proceeds from the event, and other sponsors, will benefit a local non-profit organization.

"We will make a donation to a non-profit that services children. Today is our day to announce to these non-profits to please tell us their story during the month of February so we can select a recipient and make the announcement," said Jenny Cathcart, with Eagle Communications.

Eagle Communications will donate a minimum of $5,000 to a local non-profit organization.

Non-profit organizations can contact Lindsay Moyer ( to submit an application.
