(Holt County Mo.) Big Lake State Park is set to reopen, three years after historic floods destroyed the popular camping ground.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced Friday that the park will open May 23 for Memorial Day weekend.

"Since 1932, Big Lake State Park has been a spot for visitors to enjoy the outdoors, and we're pleased to be able to once again welcome campers to the park," said Bill Bryan, Missouri State Parks director.

Big Lake State Park has been closed since a levee breach caused severe flooding and damage to the park in 2011.
