(LEAVENWORTH, Kan.) Leavenworth police have identified a body found in the Missouri river last week as a St. Joseph man.

Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens says the department identified the body as 38-year-old Jason Davies by finger prints.

Davies' death investigation has now been turned over to the St. Joseph Police Department. Police are handling the death as a homicide investigation.

The body was found last Thursday by Nebraska Game and Park employees that were tracking fish in the river.
