(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Thousands of chiefs fans huddled into Missouri Western Saturday morning as family day hit training camp.  Fans enjoyed a variety of activities including getting autographs from their favorite players.  Kids were running, passing, and kicking the football while parents got to see the Chiefs practice.

"It's awsome man, this is a good chance to come out and see an nfl team practice.  A lot of nice events for the kids.  So it's great," said Chiefs Fan Cyrus Russ.

Kids were able to take part in numerous types of football drills, a rock climbing wall, and even face painting.

"There's different agility drills here.  Running through obstacles just like the chiefs do in their practices and jumping and scoring touchdowns," said Chiefs Fan Scott Galas.

For many parents, time spent at the camp wasn't an issue.  And didn't mind staying the whole time.

"As long as she wants to stay, as long as she's having fun, we'll stay," said Russ.

Even though kids got to have their fun, parents were ready to enjoy themselves just as much as the kids.

"I can't lie, it's a little bit for me, I love football.  So of course I came out to see the chiefs practice, but she gets to have a great time too and we get to have a good time together.  So, that's the fun part about it," said Russ.

Large crowds sometimes keep people away but that didn't happen at the Family Fun Day.

"There's a lot of people but it's pretty organized, it's organized enough.  So, everybody kind of can do their own thing and just worry about themselves and it's cool," said David Dearth of Kansas City, MO.

Both the parents and the kids could really get the best of both worlds at the Family Fun Day.

"Being this close, to get a chance to see the chiefs practice, see how they're going to look for the upcoming season.  And again, most important thing, spend time with your family, have some fun, a down day on Saturday, and let my daughter hang out.  So I love that," said Russ.

6,200 fans showed up for Family Fun Day.  The day is the busiest one of training camp each year.
