(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce held its quarterly St. Joe rising event Friday morning.

City Council, and School Board Candidates, discussed issues in the area like the proposed smoking ordinance and school stipends.

Chamber members said hosting the forum allowed voters to get an opinion on what the candidates represent.

"It's good for the community, for voters who haven't made up their mind yet, to be able to hear all the candidates at once, and make comparisons," Barry Birr, Radio Host on 680 KFEQ.

"How they [candidates] would personally vote on the smoking ban, how they would fix our street, how they would deal with stipends in the school district. A lot of personal opinions, from the candidates, came out that will reflect how they're going to operate the next four years," said Kristi Bailey, Director of Communications & Marketing, St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce.

Candidates also took questions this morning from the audience.
