(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The City of St. Joseph is working to rebuild its salt supply as another winter storm approaches.

The streets department took a hit in its supply after several rounds of snow since the beginning of the year.

Winter weather nationwide also impacted supplies as companies that distribute salt worked to keep up with the demand. Those companies have a limited number of trucks and cities all across the region have kept them busy this season.

"We are starting to build up. We're sitting better than where we were before - not quite where I'd like to be yet, but I'm comfortable with the amount we have right now," said Keven Schneider, City of St. Joseph.

City trucks were set up with spreaders Friday. Schneider said they are plugged in and ready to roll as needed this weekend.

Crews will make a decision sometime Saturday on the best time to begin pre-treating.
