How To Be A Master Student is a four week class hosted by the Northwest Missouri Area Health Education Center that gives teens a chance at being better students at the university level.
Each class focuses on a unique skill that builds off what students have learned in previous sessions.
The topics covered include time management, goal setting, reading skills, critical thinking and study strategies.
Derek Evans, an academic adviser at Missouri Western who is presenting the class series, says it is an important preparation tool for incoming students because while college offers more freedom, it also means more responsibilities.
The program is open to all area high schoolers and covers foundational skills used in all majors.
The weekly sessions will be held every Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heartland Regional Medical Center until it wraps up on August 5.
The total cost of the program is $40.
