(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Hunger Coalition held its 10th annual Empty Bowls benefit in St. Joseph.

For $25, patrons were able to sample soups from ten local restaurants.
The money goes towards feeding those less fortunate on Sundays when local food kitchens are closed. The money will be distributed between Catholic Charities, Second Harvest, Interserv and Open Door Food Kitchen.
The Hunger Coalition says they're impressed with this year's turnout and hope the fundraiser draws more in the future.

"This has been such a wonderful thing because there's so many wonderful volunteers that come together to make this event happen and they're all giving to the community," said Karen Woodbury, Empty Bowls chairperson.

Last year's Empty Bowls fundraiser raised $25,000. The Benton Club won this year's People's Choice Award.
