(LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo.) A deputy avoided injury, but his truck was damaged when it collided with a deer Friday.

Deputy Jay Cooksey was heading to a call about a home intrusion in the southwest part of Livingston County when a deer crossed his path and hit the front of the Dodge Ram.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department said a push bumper on the truck helped minimize the damage. The sheriff's office is awaiting damage estimates from its insurance company.

A different deputy was able to handle the home intrusion call.
