KQ2 met with Jessica Anderson, a licensed\registered dietitian from Heartland to discuss how to eat healthy but still enjoy all of your favorite foods.
Anderson says you can't lose weight unless you eat healthily and exercise
"People will come up to me and say, I hit the gym hard everyday and I'm running. I do my weights but nothing is happening. I don't see any changes and my clothes are still fitting tight. I'm not seeing any kind of improvements and honestly it's because being healthy requires 2 things; eating healthy and exercise," says Anderson.
We learned to make a healthy breakfast meal for people on the go, overnight oatmeal.
It takes less than 5 minutes to prep and is ready to go the next day.
Anderson says if you don't eat healthy, you put your health at risk.
"If you're not consistent with your meals or if you skip meals, you mess up your metabolism. If you mess up your metabolism you're already behind as far as getting your start on weight-loss," added Anderson.
It's important to dedicate yourself to your health.
It takes a few weeks to develop a habit and once you start eating healthy it soon becomes a habit.
You will eventually learn to make healthier food choices without thinking twice about it.
Also, stick to the basics: keep a food journal, don't skip meals, eat foods from all of the food groups to reduce temptation, and make healthy choices when you eat out.
Instead of being overly concerned with counting calories or measuring portion sizes, think of your diet in terms of color, variety, and freshness.
