Extreme Cold Settles in the Region

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) We began the morning below zero. And we'll stay that cold all day long, in all likelihood.

St. Joseph schools are cancelled, as are most around the region, and for good reason:

Wind chill values are in the 20s and 30s below zero.

Strong northwest winds aloft reinforce this cold air at least through tonight, although a warming trend will slowly develop through the rest of the week.

We won't stay as cold as today all week, but will likely be at or below freezing for much of it.

Above freezing temperatures are possible by Friday.
