(PLATTE CITY, Mo.) Flooding in some areas of Platte County has forced the closure of several roads.

Algier Road, Edgerton Junction Road, Dick's Creek Road, Cockriel Road and E Highway east of Camden Point are all closed.

Some low-lying farm land close to the Platte and Little Platte Rivers is also flooded.

Platte County Sheriff Mark Owens urges caution as river levels recede.

"People need to be aware that flooded roadways are often more hazardous than they appear," Sheriff Owens said. "I urge the citizens not to drive through flood waters. These waters can be deeper than they appear and vehicles can easily become stranded or get swept down stream by flood waters."

Platte County Emergency Management will continue to monitor the flooding situation in until the rivers have completely receded and all roads have been reopened.
