(JEFFERSON CITY) Governor Jay Nixon signed a bill Thursday that extends the life of a program that helps low income seniors pay for prescription drugs.

Senate Bill 754 keeps the Missouri Rx Program running until August 28, 2017.

The program was set to expire next month.

Missouri Rx pays half of the out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for low income seniors and those with disabilities covered through Medicare Part D.
