(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The dome at the Buchanan County Courthouse is getting a facelift.

The makeover, planned for this summer, is courtesy of a $32,500 grant from the Missouri Heritage Properties Program. The Mo-Kan Regional Council completed the grant application for Buchanan County.

The money will be used to clean the dome and replace deteriorated materials before priming and painting.

The courthouse dates back to the 1870s and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972.
