(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) With the March 31 Affordable Care Act enrollment deadline approaching, Northwest Health Services is stepping up efforts to get people signed up.

The organization held a health fair at East Hills Library on Friday.

Counselors met with visitors, guiding them through the enrollment process. People could also check their blood pressure and take basic medical tests. Booths provided health information on a variety of topics.

Enrollment specialist Tyler Graff said it teaches people how to use their insurance once they get it.
"We wanted something to really focus on the St. Joseph area to bring a large number of people in," Graff said. "It just seemed like a health fair was a good way to do that, get a lot of different aspects of the healthcare field to those people."

The fair ran until 5 p.m. on Friday.

If you missed your chance to go, Graff says Northwest Health Services will hold a similar event next month.
