Johnny Cathcart, a graduate of Central High School produced the documentary for his thesis project at N.Y.U.
The film called "Starting On The Right Foot", tells the story of a 26-year-old girl who lost her leg to cancer, but overcame the odds to make it to the Paralympic Trials.
Heartland says sharing the film helps spread the word about beating cancer.
"It was an opportunity that we saw that we could bring together our cancer center," said Barbie Squires, Chief Development Officer for Heartland. "And really just to get together and celebrate cancer survivorship."
Cathcart held a question and answer session for guests.
Oncologists from Heartland also provided information on the treatments they provide to the region.
