(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph police say Highway 36 is back open after a semi truck overturned Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened on eastbound Highway 36 in St. Joseph near Interstate 29.

Authorities believe wind played a factor in the accident that sent the male driver to the hospital. A woman in the truck was not injured.

According to Mike Hardin with the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department, the driver became trapped by the steering wheel when the truck overturned. Hardin said the truck was exiting onto Highway 36 from I-29 when it happened.

Crews closed the highway to clean up fuel leaking from the truck. Hardin said they were using a dry substance to soak up the spilled fuel.

The Missouri Department of Transportation said traffic on I-29 was also moving slowly due to the accident.
