(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) National Pancake Day arrived Tuesday for IHOP and the restaurant celebrated by offering free pancakes.

In return for the free pancakes, guests are asked to consider leaving a donation for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. All of the money donated locally will be given to Children's Mercy Hospital.

IHOP says it's happy to give back to help sick kids in the community.

"This IHOP here has always had probably the best donations of all the Kansas City market so it shows St. Joseph is really good at caring and giving," said Mark Schoak, manager of the St. Joseph location.

Customers can also purchase a balloon for $5 for the hospital in exchange for a $5 coupon to the restaurant.
Last year, the restaurant collected more than $6,000 for the hospital.
