(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri Public Service Commission and the Office of Public Counsel are looking further into billing problems at Missouri American Water.

This comes after a KQ2 report of a St. Joseph couple mistakenly receiving a $1,600 water bill. Following that story, there was a wave of others who said they had also received incorrect bills.

Missouri American offered to sit down with customers individually to work out any issues.

However, due to the large number of complaints and an investigation by the Public Service Commission, a case file has been opened up with the Office of Public Counsel.

According to its website, The Office of Public Counsel represents the interests of the public and utility customers in proceedings before the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) and in appeals in the courts.
