(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) While warmer weather is forcing many to turn on their air conditioners, it's still not too late to get the a/c tuned up for even hotter temperatures sure to come this summer.

The HVAC department at Vatterott College recommends you have your unit looked at now before it's too late.

They say other than changing filters, it's been a long winter where a lot of things could have gone wrong.

"You've had winter weather gone by and your unit hasn't been used for a while," said Vatterott HVAC Program Director. "So make sure around your unit you don't have any growth covering your coil so you've got proper air that can flow through and dissipate the heat through your coil."

Vatterott is getting ready to start its new HVAC classes.

The 60-week program is the equivalent of a four year, non-union apprenticeship.

Classes begin June 16 at the Kansas City campus.
