(ATCHISON, Ks.) A woman involved in an inappropriate relationship with a teen has finally reached a plea agreement.

Those who know Heather Robinson say they're still in shock to learn what happened inside Atchison High School.

"I feel like because of who she is, she should've never let herself get involved in anything like that. She should have had better judgment," stated Shaquan Wallace of Atchison.

Robinson was contracted through the county to serve as a truancy officer for the school district. Investigators say the sexual relationship happened while she worked at Atchison High School.

"It occurred over a lengthy period of time. Approximately a six month period of time. It began when the young man was 17 and it concluded when he was 18," stated Jerry Kuckelman, Atchison County Prosecuting Attorney.

Robinson originally faced 11 charges, nine were dropped as part of a plea agreement. She pleaded no contest to two counts of unlawful sexual relations.

"A lot of people questioned me about that but the charge of unlawful sexual relations has to do with a power issue. It's when a person in a position of power or authority is using that to gain sexual advantage," added Kuckelman.

The school district's superintendent, Dr. Susan Myers released a statement to parents in May when Robinson was charged.

Some parents in the community say they're just happy Robinson will no longer work with children.

"I feel like she should be punished just like anybody else were to do something like that. It's wrong, it's definitely wrong and it's just sad. It really is just sad," added Wallace.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the case because of Robinson's connection to local police. She faces up to 11 years in prison and must also register as a sex offender.

A pre-sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 15th.
