They will compete at a state competition for the first time in school history.
A team of three chefs will have one hour to cook five dishes: baked chicken, zucchini, salad, salad dressing and mashed potatoes.
They have spent the past eight weeks preparing for competition.
Team members said this is only the beginning for the culinary arts program at Lafayette.
"Going to state for the first time, it just means how much hard work we put into it. And, it's really just paying off now. And, even if we don't win, I still love the team. We're kind of a big family," said Samuel Pettit, Culinary Arts Team Captain.
The team will compete against 14 other teams in the state.
The competition is Monday, March 31, in Columbia, Missouri.
