Bank accounts have been set up to help the family of Cadence Orcutt after her sudden death over the weekend.
Orcutt, 8, was know for her kind heart and determination. Many say the young girl was always happy whenever she was around anyone.
"Her smile is very contagious, I don't think she ever didn't have a smile on her face to be honest," Orcutt's cousin Jacee Moran.
Those who knew her say she wanted to be an art teacher when she grew up as she had a passion for drawing.
"This shirt she designed for her cousin who has autism. There was a contest and she really wanted to win it so that so she could have the t-shirts for him," the Orcutt family friend and neighbor Natalie Snead said.
However, the little girl's life was cut short following an accident Sunday afternoon. She lost control of the car her grandfather allowed her to drive just outside of Wathena.
So to help the family during this difficult time, accounts have set up at Nodaway Valley Bank and the Pony Express Community banks to help with the costs.
"It's amazing because I know Brittany would do anything for anybody else and so it's not just Troy that's coming together," Moran said. You know, I'm from St. Joe and there is so many people there that are reaching out and helping."
Aside from funeral costs, Orcutt's mom and friends are working on other ways to remember the little girl's giving heart.
"Just recently she has been trying to get a group together for the community kids in Missouri and Kansas to give back to the community," Snead said. "We haven't got all the details settled but she's got so many ideas and I know Cadence was a big part of that because her heart is so big."
As those close to Cadence know they have a tough road ahead, they hope people never forget her loving spirit.
"She wouldn't let you pass without making sure she said hello and if she was close enough, she'd give you hugs," said Snead.
The Nodaway Valley accounts are located in St. Joseph, Savannah and Maryville. The Pony Express accounts are located in Troy, Elwood, Horton and St. Joseph.
