(LATHROP, Mo.) The search for a missing truck driver has ended in Clinton County after the Texas man was located in Cameron.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mike Howell, 49, is safe. He was at a hotel in Cameron.

Lt. Eric Tilford said a woman saw the news story about Howell and called authorities to let them know she picked him up and drove him to the hotel in Cameron.

Howell's truck and trailer were found at the Trex Mart station near I-35 and Missouri 116 outside of Lathrop Monday. His wallet, cell phone and other items were still inside. Howell's wife and the company he was hauling for became concerned after he had reported having mechanical troubles Sunday, and his shipment never arrived to its destination.

The Highway Patrol searched the area briefly on Monday. The Patrol said their investigation is now closed.
