(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Middle school girls in St. Joseph received mentoring from the Missouri Western soccer and volleyball teams Wednesday afternoon.

The mentoring opportunity was part of the YWCA's Final Choices Program.

The program matches student athletes from Missouri Western with girls from three middle schools who act as a mentor.

The softball team was unable to make it because of their busy travel schedule.
Soccer coach Chad Edwards said the girls make good bonds.

"They absolutely love working with the kids to provide some leadership, the mentoring obviously and just the relationships they develop with the kids and I forsee that relationship continuing," he said.

The mentors talk to the girls about everything from homework to boys.

During Wednesday's program, they handed out end of the year awards.
