Texas health officials have also confirmed the state's first case of the virus.
Chikungunya has now spread to 27 states.
More than 130 cases have been reported so far this year.
The virus was brought to the U.S. by infected travelers who had recently been to the Caribbean.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the most common symptoms of chikungunya virus infection are fever and joint pain.
Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling or rash.
There is no vaccine to prevent infection and no known treatment.
Chikungunya has been known for decades in Africa and Asia.
