The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the first accident happened when a woman lost control of her SUV and struck several trees. The woman in the single car crash was transported to Heartland Medical for her injuries.
The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office say the second crash happened when a man lost control of his truck and struck a concrete barrier. He was not injured.
Both accidents were less than a mile apart, authorities say it's important to slow down.
"We just cannot over emphasize the need for people to slow down, reduce their following distance to other people, put their cell phones down, don't drink and drive wear your seat belt and just drive defensively," stated Cpl. John Christensen with highway patrol.
AAA projects more than 36 million people will travel this holiday weekend.
