(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A former Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court is throwing his support toward a candidate in the race for Buchanan County Associate Circuit Judge.

Chip Robertson endorsed candidate Gary Myers Monday.

"Gary is a guy who has the three things that I think are important: judicial integrity, judicial temperament and the the right kind of intellectual capacity to do the job very well," said Robertson.

Robertson served on the Missouri Supreme Court from 1985 to 1998 and was Chief Justice from 1991 to 1993.

Myers is running for the Democratic nomination for Associate Circuit Judge, Division 6.

Myers will face Chad Gaddie, John Boeh and Michael Insco in the August 5 primary.

The winner will face Republican candidate Rebecca Spencer in the general election November 4.
