(NEW YORK, NY) For the first time six years, a Northwest Bearcat was taken in the NFL Draft.

Cornerback Brandon Dixon was selected by the New York Jets in the sixth round and 195th overall.

He's the first Bearcat picked in the NFL Draft since Xavier Omon went to the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round.

Dixon, a native of Pompano Beach, Florida, was named first team All-American by Daktronics and D2Football.com as a senior, and made the second team for each publication as a junior.

He completed his senior season with 36 tackles, 12 passes defended, 11 pass breakups and one interception.

Dixon was also a member of Northwest's fourth national championship team in 2013.
