(MARYVILLE, Mo.) The Nodaway County Sheriff's Office is working to raise funds for its canine program.

Thursday kicked off the fifth year for the benefit to collect money for the narcotics department and their K-9, Jerik.
The items sold during the benefit are all donated and will go towards the K-9 department. Although the money is not desperately needed, the sheriff's office says it's a fun way to bring the community together and help offset some of the expenses for the county.

"It's fantastic and I think the people that come here and shop they love getting the bargains but we have all these great volunteers that bring us stuff and they set it up and they work and it's just a good thing for everybody," stated Nodaway County Sheriff, Darren White.

The fundraiser continues through Saturday at the American Legion Hall in Maryville.
