(MARYVILLE, Mo.) It's that time of the year once again - college classes are starting back up.

At Northwest Missouri State University Sunday, freshmen were officially welcomed onto the campus with a convocation.  It's a formal introduction of what's expected of students but also what they can expect from the faculty and staff.

During the convocation, administration discussed what students can expect for the next four years.

Department of Communications Chair Matt Walker believes that students weren't just welcomed into the school but also into a family.

"It kind of lets them know our commitment to them and I think it's a pretty serious commitment.  And it shows our freshmen that, hey we're here for you, we are here to help you be successful every single day," said Department of Communications Chair Matt Walker.

The convocation ended with freshmen marching through the memorial bell tower, gathering for ice cream, and planting their class tree.
