According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. when Shawn Williams, 39, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 in a 1997 Honda Accord and struck an embankment.
The driver and was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned multiple times. The vehicle came to a rest on the east side of the highway.
Williams was transported by EMS to Heartland Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for serious injuries. He was not wearing his safety belt.
