(PLATTE COUNTY, Mo.) A Platte County teenager received probation Tuesday for assaulting another player during a football game last fall.

Colin Byrd, 18, of Kansas City, entered a guilty plea to the charge Tuesday at the Platte County Courthouse.

According to court documents, the Platte County R-III player assaulted a Winnetonka player during a game in October by ripping off his helmet and hitting him in the head with it. Byrd was ejected from the game. The other player suffered a concussion. He has since been cleared by a doctor to return to school, but he still remains under a doctor's care.

Byrd's sentence of supervised probation includes a 12-week anger management program, 100 hours of community service, restitution and an apology letter to the victim.
