(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A challenge that began in a small, Northwest Missouri town continues to spread across the country.

"Not just the local community, but the country, and other nations, have come together to help him. And, I enjoy being a part of that," said 1st Sgt. Andre Lawhorn, Missouri Army National Guard.

People all over are jumping into cold waters, to help Landon Shaw in his fight against cancer.

Sunday evening, soldiers from the Missouri Army National Guard joined the trend.

"It's nice to see that the internet, and the viral stuff is being used for a good cause," said Staff Sgt. Treston Chappell, Missouri Army National Guard.

Joshua Wright, a Tarkio resident, started the challenge exactly two weeks ago.  He created a Facebook page for people to post videos and share their challenges. He never imagined it would go viral in such a short amount of time.

"Words can't really describe what it's like, and it's just really amazing. You can't really wrap your mind around how big it has gotten," Wright said.

The page now has more than 40,000 members, and they've raised nearly $92,000 for Landon.

Wright credits a higher power for the rapid growth.

"It's definitely a God thing. He had us all in the right place, and what He wanted us to do. And, His plan was a lot larger than what we did," he said.

The plunge has hit all 50 states, as well as 28 other countries. As long as Landon continues to fight,  many people, like the soldiers, say they will continue to fight with him.

"Anything we can do to help that young warrior, I guarantee we will do it," said Sgt. Lawhorn.

"He's fighting a tough battle, and I wish him the best, and his parents the best of luck, and God be with him," said Sgt. Chappell.

Landon is still at Children's Mercy Hospital. He begins his third chemo treatment later this week.
