Officers will work overtime during the campaign, focusing on unrestrained drivers and passengers.
The campaign is part of a nationwide Click it or Ticket program that runs through June 1. Officers across the country will be watching for seat belt violations over Memorial Day weekend.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, fatalities are up across the country for the first time in five years. In 2012, more than 10,000 people killed in car crashes were not wearing seat belts.
