A majority of Americans and Catholics want women to have access to birth control through their employee health plans.

A poll conducted last week found more than half of Americans think employers should provide health insurance plans that include birth control.

The response to the Public Religion Research Institute poll from Catholics was even stronger in favor of including contraception in employer-provided insurance coverage.

Almost six out of ten of the Catholics polled support birth control as part of workplace healthcare plans.

The Obama administration has been in the crosshairs of critics over its plan to require religious employers to provide full coverage of contraceptives.
