(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Salvation Army in St. Joseph will have a little extra money thanks to a big donation.

St. Joe Petroleum, which operates Fast Gas stores, donated $6,500 to the organization.

The donation is part of a grant that is provided by BP.

As part of their fueling communities program, BP provides grants to local communities.

St. Joe Petroleum officials said they chose the Salvation Army because of their focus on Christ.

"Being able to support a Christ centered and church based mission in our area is important to us," said Matthew Flynn with St. Joe Petroleum.

This is the third year that they have been able to donate money as part of the grant.

The Salvation Army said they will use it to feed hungry kids in the community.
