(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Two area colleges have partnered with the St. Joseph School District to offer scholarships for college bound students.
The school district, along with Northwest Missouri State University and Metropolitan Community College will offer money for A+ eligible students.

MCC will utilize four classrooms and equipment in the Northwest St. Joseph Center, located in the Historic Green Acres Building.

Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA, have a 95 percent attendance record and perform at least 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring.

SJSD serves about 11,400 students and features three A+ high schools. School leaders say they're thrilled to offer students scholarships.

"This is really about students and student opportunities. It's so pleasing to work with organizations that focus on students first," said Dr. John Jasinski, President at Northwest Missouri State University.

"A child who graduates with A+ certification can stay right here in St. Joseph and get a two-year associates degree free of charge," stated Dr. Fred Czerwonka, Superintendent for St. Joseph School District.

MCC will host an open house from 4:30 to 6:30 Thursday, April 10, at the St. Joseph Center. An information session for parents and students is Tuesday, April 22m at 5:30 pm at the St. Joseph Center.
