(WASHINGTON) Former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius is out of a job.

Sebelius resigned Friday as Health and Human Services secretary.

She had become the face of the many issues associated with the Affordable Care Act website, coming under fire last fall for the rocky roll-out of

Friday, she was recognized for the 7.5 million people the Obama administration says signed up for healthcare under the system.

"The final score speaks for itself," she said. "There are seven and a half million people across the country that have the security of health insurance, most of them for the very first time, and that's because of the woman standing next to me here today. I got to be a leader of HHS during these most historic times. We are on the front lines of a long overdue national change, fixing a broken health system."

The president has nominated budget director Sylvia Burwell as Sebelius' replacement.
