(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Missouri Senator Roy Blunt reacted to President Obama's speech on the economy during a visit to Kansas City's Uptown Theater Wednesday.

The republican said the president should be back in Washington working.

"He should have been here," said Sen. Blunt. "We're dealing with transportation. We're dealing with the veterans administration. We're dealing with a border crisis that is largely of the president's own making. This would have been a critical week for the president to be here not just talking to republicans but more importantly, the president's not even here talking to democrats. We need presidential leadership. We know the president knows how to campaign, we need to now see a president that knows how to lead."
