(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph police officer has earned statewide recognition for his work with young drivers.

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety honored officer Richard Bradley with the "Show-Me Safety Award" during a conference in Branson.

Officer Bradley developed the "I'm A Safe Driver" program for high school-aged drivers.

The program offers monthly prizes and a drawing for a new car for drivers with a clean record at the end of the school year.

The program has helped lower the number of crashes involving young drivers by about 34 percent.
